The government has launched a new digital Midlife MOT tool to help people prepare for their future.

What is it?

This free resource is aimed at people in their 40s and 50s, but people of any age can use it to help with their financial planning and take stock of their skills and careers.

The tool helps you identify areas to address by asking you questions on issues such as:

Budgeting
Debt
Insurance
Pensions

You can also:

Track down lost pensions
Find out when you’re eligible for the state pension
Work out your ideal retirement income

Other features of the tool include:

Information on the basics of pension savingAdvice
A step-by-step guide to boosting your pension and planning your retirement income
Signposts to key organisations and charities, including the Department for Work and Pensions’ find a job portal, MoneyHelper and Citizens Advice

Why do I need it?

People will often spend their working lives moving through several jobs and are living longer.

That has transformed what people want and expect from retirement, so it’s important to make sure you’re in a strong financial position for later life.

Planning now could pay huge dividends further down the line, so don’t delay and carry out your digital Midlife MOT right now.
